At Royal Flush Plumbing, we recently tackled a challenging residential plumbing project involving persistent sewage backups. Two of our licensed plumbers, along with two apprentices, were called in after the homeowner noticed sewage repeatedly backing up into the house.
Through our thorough diagnostics process, we discovered the root of the problem — a large section of the sewer line had been installed at the wrong pitch. This incorrect slope caused waste to collect rather than flow away from the home, ultimately forcing sewage back inside.
Getting Started, and Addressing a Going Concern...
Resolving this required significant work, including removing concrete and digging through multiple rooms on the basement level. During the first few days of the job, the home’s bathrooms were temporarily out of commission. To minimize inconvenience for the homeowner and their family, we provided our signature Mobile Throne — a clean, portable restroom — so daily routines could continue as smoothly as possible while repairs were underway.

Once we had exposed and worked back to the necessary point in the sewer line, our team removed the faulty pipe and installed a brand-new sewer line at the correct pitch to ensure smooth drainage for years to come. Afterward, we backfilled the dirt, poured fresh concrete, and left the area clean and ready for new flooring installation. Our commitment doesn’t stop at repairs — we take steps to make sure our work prevents future problems, giving homeowners peace of mind long after the job is done.
Thinking forward...
This project also provided valuable on-the-job training for our apprentices, who worked alongside our licensed plumbers to learn proper installation and repair techniques. In addition to the sewer line replacement, we also installed a new toilet, further improving the home’s plumbing system.
